- 1883 – Foundation of the first Alliance Française in Paris under the aegis of Paul Cambon and Pierre Foncin, with the support of personalities such as Jules Verne, Louis Pasteur, Ferdinand de Lesseps, Armand Colin and Ernest Renan

Alliance Française de Zurich: our history for 130 years!
- Founded in 1889, we are one of the oldest Alliances in the world. We celebrated our 130 year anniversary in 2019!
